Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is a form of a minimally invasive laparoscopic technique during which small body incisions are used for placement of surgical instruments.  These instruments are attached to robotic arms, allowing a surgeon maximum range and precision of motion during the procedure. A  high-definition, three-dimensional camera with enhanced visualization allows the surgeon for precise magnification and guidance during the procedure. The surgeon controls the instruments and camera at a robotic console in the operating room.

Benefits of Robotic Surgery

  • Smaller incisions - less surgical trauma/ smaller scars
  • More precise anatomical dissection
  • Faster recovery times compared with traditional open surgery
  • Magnified view of the surgical field:  accurate depth perception and sharper image
  • Robotic arms and instruments simplify the most complex movements during surgery

Dr. Mishail has been successfully performing surgeries with the use of Da Vinci robot.

These procedures include:

  • Radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer
  • Partial nephrectomy and radical nephrectomy for kidney cancer
  • Pyeloplasty (UPJ repair) for ureteral obstruction
  • Sacrocolpopexy for pelvic organ prolapse
  • Ureteral reimplantation for ureteral disorders
  • Robotic bladder surgery for bladder diverticulum disease and other urinary bladder disorders
